What are Concussions and TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)?
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) afflicts over one million people annually, impacting their personality as well as the individual’s ability to function intellectually, emotionally, and physically. The damage can have life-altering impacts on the individual as well as those close to them. TBI are defined as injuries to the head that result in damage to the brain. This can occur in many ways but is often a result of car accidents, severe falls, and sports injuries.
Concussions are a type of TBI. They are often referred to or classified as mild TBI because these injuries are usually not immediately life threatening; however, this does not mean symptoms of concussions or their impact on the individual are “mild.” Concussions and their associated symptoms are increasingly recognized as a severe health problem requiring increased attention and interventions.
Neurofeedback for TBI and Concussions
At Chicago Mind Solutions, we employ the latest in neurofeedback technologies to help clients recover from the effects of TBI and concussions. Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment of TBI/concussion that includes neuropsychological evaluation and Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) assessment. This helps to determine brain regions impacted and types of brain dysregulation to target in treatment. We offer two different types of neurofeedback treatment to meet the different needs of the individual. This includes neurofeedback training (Brain Avatar) and microcurrent neurofeedback (LENS). Neurofeedback treatment helps to stimulate and encourage the brain to heal itself and improve dysregulation in brain activity associated with the injury.
Using neurofeedback therapy to enhance neuroplasticity, Chicago Mind Solutions’ therapists help clients boost their concentration, decision-making, and emotional regulation in addition to addressing other symptoms such as sleep problems and difficulties with motivation. We have witnessed tremendous success in treating our clients with TBI and concussions. Indeed, many satisfied clients have reported upon conclusion of their personalized neurofeedback treatment that they feel a new lease on life. Please see our video testimonials!

How Does TBI Change Behavior?
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) refers to an injury to the head that results in damage to the brain.
However, a major injury may cause bruising, torn tissues, and bleeding. All of this disrupts brain function, directly impacting behavior.
How Neurofeedback Treats TBI
What if your therapist could actually see what your mental illness looks like in your brain? What if you had a visual of your brain’s circuitry and brainwaves that interprets your symptoms?
Neurofeedback treatment can do this through brain-mapping.
